If you need radioactive iodine therapy, your healthcare provider may prescribe corticosteroids alongside the treatment to help reduce your risk of developing or worsening TED symptoms. It's important to understand that treating thyroid problems, while necessary, typically won't resolve existing TED symptoms. The best approach is to work closely with your healthcare team to manage both conditions simultaneously. This may include:
• Anti-inflammatory medications
• Regular monitoring of eye symptoms
• Proper thyroid hormone management
• Lifestyle modifications like quitting smoking if applicable
