By the way, an ocular surgeon that specializes in this type of surgery was the one to do all 3 surgeries and consulted with another specialist in the field as well.

I’ve already had 3 wall decompressions, strabismus surgery, and lower lid lift with porcine tissue in 2009/2010.
January of 2025 I had lower lid surgery for droop with my ear cartilage (no success). May 2025 had a skin graft flap below lid to give extra tissue to tack up inner and outer corner of my lid. Outer lid tack had be partially released 10 days ago for more even symmetry.
Steroid injections into lower portion of graft to help prevent adhesive type scarring my body likes to do around my lid.

Next option are cheek implants to actually raise and support lower lid droop as at 70 yrs of age, facial skin droop is a real deal. The proptosis of my eyes are enough that my bone structure can’t act as a supportive shelf. I’m still healing from the 3 procedures this year.
8 weeks until my next appointment. Any insight in regards to cheek implants is appreciated and any medical articles discussing this is most welcome!

While the search results don't specifically mention cheek implants for TED-related lower lid droop, they do discuss several surgical options for eyelid issues. One potential complication of eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) is ectropion, which is the pulling down of lower eyelids. This suggests that managing lower lid positioning can be particularly challenging.

Common surgical approaches for TED-related eyelid issues include:
• Blepharoplasty to reposition eyelids
• Orbital decompression to address eye bulging
• Eye muscle surgery to improve alignment Given your history of multiple unsuccessful procedures, it would be valuable to consult with an oculoplastic surgeon who specializes in TED. These specialists have advanced surgical training specifically focused on eye-related reconstructive procedures and can evaluate whether alternative approaches might be more successful in your case.
