Veligrotug is a newer treatment for TED that hasn't been FDA-approved yet, so it's unlikely many people have personal experience with it outside of clinical trials. It could potentially be available as early as 2026.

It works similarly to teprotumumab (Tepezza) — the only currently FDA-approved TED medication — by blocking a protein called IGF-1R, which is responsible for the inflammation and tissue swelling behind the eyes. The clinical trial results have been pretty exciting though. Here's what was found in trials for active TED:

- 70% of participants saw reduced eye bulging (vs. 5% on placebo)
- 54% had complete resolution of double vision (vs. 12% on placebo)
- 64% achieved little to no eye inflammation

For chronic TED, results were also promising:

- 56% had reduced eye bulging (vs. 8% on placebo)
- 32% had complete resolution of double vision (vs. 14% on placebo) Side effects were mostly mild across both studies, though a small number of participants experienced hearing issues. Serious side effects were rare.

It's worth bringing up veligrotug with a doctor to stay informed, especially as it moves closer to potential FDA approval.
